The number of men who want to change the shape or the size of their nose is increasing every day. However, reshaping or resizing is not the main reason why men undergo nose surgery. Having rhinoplasty to improve the function of the nose is one of the top motivating factors for men getting a nose job.
A crooked septum is very common and leads to serious breathing problems. This condition is either inherited or acquired. Air passage obstruction, and thus a breathing problem may also be caused by the cartilage of the nose which becomes weak and droops with age.
Both these conditions require attention and nose surgery seems to be the only remedy. Men often lead a more physically active lifestyle than women. Being the most prominent element on the face, the nose is more exposed to accidents than any other part of the face. That’s why there are a lot of male rhinoplasty patients.
Over the last decade, the number of nose surgery procedures for aesthetic reasons has increased among men. They seem to be more and more concerned about appearance and, just like women, do everything they can to improve it.
Men’s expectations from nose surgeries are somewhat different from women’s. While women expect to have smaller noses after such a procedure, most men are more interested in shape than in size.
The male facial features are firm and require a nose that balances them. So, when men make an appointment for a nose job they usually expect an improvement in the contour of the nose without losing its characteristic feature. They may ask the plastic surgeon to smooth the bridge of the nose and reshape the cartilage so as to make the nose more harmonious, but they will rarely ask to change the profile, unless it is crooked.
