Rhinoplasty: Correcting the Bulbous Tip

The nose is undoubtedly a defining feature on the human face. Many people, both male and female, are upset with the look of their nose. Whether it is an inherited fault or a crooked nose from an accident, plastic surgeons are able to correct abnormalities of your nose and make you feel better about how it looks.

One of the biggest complaints plastic surgeons hear from patients is not the size of breasts, butts or stomachs, it is the size of the bulbous tip on the nose. A bulbous tip of the nose means that the tip or end of the nose is large and rounded. If you feel that the tip of your nose is too full and round, you may think that it detracts from the rest of your face. Rhinoplasty can work to correct this bulbous tip look, and refine it so that the tip of your nose looks in proportion to the rest of the nose and therefore, to the rest of your face.

There are 2 main techniques that your plastic surgeon may use to correct bulbous nose tip. Some doctors prefer using sutures, as they do not require the cutting and removal of any tissue. The bulbous tip is literally sewn together to make a skinnier, more refined looking end of the nose. Another technique that your plastic surgeon might use is cephalic resection; where a portion of the cartilage in the tip of the nose is removed to make it smaller and less full looking.

The only way to correct the bulbous tip is rhinoplasty. If you feel that the tip of your nose is really off-balance, and you think that a change in your appearance would make you feel better, speak to a board certified plastic surgeon.
